The game is set in the future in the year 2508 and features the character of the protagonist named Isaac Clarke who works as an engineer. With the thrilling environment, brilliant graphics, and core mechanics, Afterfall: Insanity is the best game to play.ĭead Space is a 2008’s Sci-Fi, Horror-Survival, and Third-person Shooter video game published by EA (Electronic Arts). The player acts as the member of a medical team who is responsible for taking care of mental and other citizens. Additional levels will be unlocked as the player proceeds through the story. There are many levels to complete, and the player has to fulfil each objective in level to become more powerful. The game puts the player in the protagonist’s role with an objective to manipulate the environment from a third-person viewpoint, use a massive arsenal of weaponry while battling against enemies to defeat them and save the world from being destroyed. It focuses on the final moments of the war when German Fuhrer Adolf Hitler successfully managed to build his Wunderwaffe, a team of Nazi Physicists to complete the project of the atomic bomb. The game supports Single-player mode only, and it takes place during the WWII setting. While the extended additional has many improvements that help it crawl out of the abyss of failed games, it remains too predictable to create the horror experience that made its inspiration titles so successful.Afterfall: Insanity is the blend of Third-person Shooter and Horror-Survival elements, created by Intoxicate Studios and published by Nicolas Entertainment Group. A do-over of the voice acting and combat mechanics help keep the game more interesting and fix some of the flat characterization that plagued the original. The enhanced or extended addition of 'Afterfall Insanity'on the PC includes a laundry list of changes to fix many of the problems of the original release. It's unfortunate that Afterfall doesn't support its setting with a story or encounters that do it justice. Overall graphics quality isn't as refined as big-budget titles, but it is good enough to hold its own and not look out of date. The environments are murky and the lighting and shadow effects are excellent. Setting is one area where Afterfall does get things right. The problem is that players learn quickly that there are enemies in every shadow, and the suspense that invokes true terror is lost by mid-game. Yes, it gives scary enemies that pop out of shadows, and that is enough to scare the player at the beginning of the game. This is something that Afterfall misses completely. Will there be an enemy around the next corner or is it empty? What is inside that room.? Should I really push that button? These kinds of questions, coupled with novel combat scenarios and truly unique enemies keep players on-edge and interested. Players have no idea what's going to happen next. One formula that seems to make most horror games successful is unpredictability. There is very little strategy or sense of urgency to any of the combat situations. Often, when being attacked by two enemies, the first will stand there stupidly while the player pounds the brains out of the other. Yes, the mutants and deranged humans in Afterfall are grotesque and nothing you would want to face in any alley, light or dark, but their attacks are too predicable and slow to be terrifying. Unlike Deadspace, Afterfall doesn't back that perspective up with interesting combat mechanics or particularly terrifying enemies. The camera angles and graphics for 'Afterfall Insanity Enhanced Edition' are blatantly similar to the popular Deadspace series, which was one of the first successful titles to employ a 3rd person perspective in the genre. This lack of a coherent team had an obvious effect on quality. By the developer's own admission, the story was crafted by a variety of people living far apart from each other and communicating via message board. The back story and setting present a nice setup for an action horror game, but the storyline ends up being too confusing and random to follow. While many indie developers seem to have a knack for taking existing genres and painting them in new light, Afterfall just doesn't do anything special. 'Afterfall Insanity Enhanced Edition 2.0' on the PC is an example of a game that attempts to copy the successful formula of other horror shooters, such as Deadspace and Doom, but falls far short of the mark.
